Workshop on Film - Language, Limitations, and Experimentation by Colombian Filmmakers

The Colombian filmmakers Jerónimo Atehourtúa, Mercedes Gaviria, and Federico Atehortúa will carry out the Workshop on Film - Language, Limitations, and Experimentation, aimed at reaffirming alternative forms of filmmaking. Thanks to new technologies, the possibility of free creation has emerged, with highly personal proposals that elevate and offer new perspectives on the language of cinema.

The workshop will also feature special sessions with international filmmakers such as Dominga Sotomayor, Paz Encina, and Andrés Di Tella.

The Workshop on Film - Language, Limitations, and Experimentation strongly believes in providing a space for reflection, debate, experimentation, and filmmaking, understanding limitations as a creative opportunity. It is organized by Invasión Cine, an independent film production company based in Colombia that has produced films such as "La vida que vendrá," "Vida al monstruo," "Mudos testigos," "Pirotecnia," and "Como el cielo después de llover."

According to the organizers of the workshop, the course "arises from our trust in alternative forms of filmmaking, with the conviction of creating a space where filmmakers can embark on a search for the world and themselves." Throughout 20 sessions, they have structured the course to address direct inquiries into forms of representation and their limits since film concerns extend beyond its own materials and procedures, revealing aesthetic and political tensions that often drive the renewal of cinematic language.

The workshop will be taught by director, screenwriter, producer, and writer Jerónimo Atehortúa ("Mudos testigos"); director, sound technician, and producer Mercedes Gaviria ("Como el cielo después de llover"); and director Federico Atehortúa ("Pirotecnia"), with special sessions featuring Argentinean documentarian Andrés Di Tella, Chilean director Dominga Sotomayor, Paraguayan director Paz Encina, Romanian director Radu Jude, Colombian directors Vladimir Durán and Lina Rodríguez, and Canadian director Sofia Bohdanowicz.

The course will begin on July 25th, conducted entirely online, with sessions taking place on Tuesdays until its completion on December 5th. It will consist of a total of 73 hours of classes.
